A woman was yesterday put on probation for two years for falsely implying that another person could have committed a crime.

Bridgette Galea, 38, from Sliema, pleaded guilty to falsely accusing Aburahim Eshansan Bentaala of committing a crime on 18 September 2006, when she knew full well that he had not.

She also pleaded guilty to falsely reporting a crime to the police and of giving false statement.

The court, presided over by magistrate Jaqueline Padovani put her on probation for two years.

Police inspector Romina Veneziani prosecuted while Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the accused.
