The Air Wing of the Armed Forces of Malta yesterday airlifted a young swimmer, a 17 year old girl from Croatia, from the Blue Lagoon in Comino after she found herself in difficulties while swimming.
The AFM was alerted by the police in Victoria.
The AFM said the girl, who was conveyed to St Luke’s Hospital for treatment, was the fourth medical evacuation of a casualty by helicopter this summer from the Blue Lagoon, mostly due to spinal injuries while swimming.
