Lack Of planning for new scholastic year – MLP

Malta Independent Friday, 7 September 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

MLP education spokesman Carmelo Abela said that just days before the opening of a new scholastic year it seemed that there were many heads of school who did not yet know who would be teaching at their school, which meant that not enough proper preparation could be made.

Many teachers had applied for assistant head posts or for peripatetic teaching posts in science and the arts. And just days ago there had been a call for applications for senior positions being created in the Education Division. This all resulted in the postponement of important decisions relating to teaching and school management.

Mr Abela said the picture was one of lack of planning but he hoped that all the confusion would at least result in better and more teaching resources and an improvement in the education system.
