A 33-year-old man from Tarxien was jailed for eight months yesterday, after he was found guilty of harassing and threatening an ex-girlfriend.
James Demanuele was found guilty of committing the offence against Helen Maria Felice, with whom he had a child, on and before 6 March this year.
Testifying in court, Ms Felice said that since he was released from prison four months before, her ex-boyfriend called her persistently, telling her he would kill her.
Ms Felice said he told her he would manage to kill her and she felt particularly threatened because he had stabbed her on a previous occasion.
Demanuele was also found guilty of relapsing; he was also bound by a personal guarantee of Lm200 / EUR466 for a one-year period, during which he is bound not to harass Ms Felice.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli presided over the court and Police Inspector Chris Pullicino prosecuted.
