The Broadcasting Authority has fined the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) a total of Lm1,250 (EUR2,912) and NET TV was reprimanded twice. PBS was handed two fines, the first one amounting for Lm500 (EUR1165) after it was found out that on 9 July between 7 and 8pm, it aired 12 minutes of advertisement.

The other fine of Lm750 (EUR1,747) was meted out after the 23 July edition of TVM Kids breached the broadcasting code on the correct use of the Maltese language on the broadcasting media. The authority noted also that it had already cautioned the programme on the same grounds.

The authority has also ordered the company to carry an item about the two penalties in its main news bulletin by tomorrow.

The reprimands earned by NET TV were for the lack of separation between the editorial and advertising content of the programme Cinderella Plus.
