Stephanie Schroeder, PR representative of the Malta Tourism Authority in Germany, has accompanied two German producers and a film crew from Deutsche Welle TV to Malta, to film sequences mainly involving tenor Joseph Calleja’s life here. Filming in both Malta and Gozo was made between 3-7 September.

A Maltese camera crew were also involved in the filming.

The authority said the filming was part of its efforts to promote the country worldwide as a destination offering a varied tourism product.

The film shooting included a full day of filming in Gozo, highlighting Dwejra as a top class diving venue, and Gozo as an island with heritage, gastronomy and beaches to match larger destinations.

Filming in Malta highlighted the Island’s gastronomy at a fish restaurant in Marsascala, its potential as a film shooting destination at the Mediterranean Film Studios, and the marinas at Manoel Island and Grand Harbour.

An original dimension was a fashion shoot in Mdina with Joseph Calleja and models wearing dresses by Maltese designers Charles and Ron. Valletta, a World Heritage City, was also included, as a jewel of art, culture and architecture.

In all, seven one-minute clips are to be produced.
