A hefty 15c has been added to the price of Super 5 tickets, effective from Thursday next week. Maltco, the company operating legal gaming, said this will be the first ticket price increase since the highly popular Super 5 game was launched in 1990.

Tickets will now cost 65c (EUR1.51) instead of 50c.

Maltco said the price increase follows consultation with and approval from the Lotteries and Gaming Authority. Because the prize fund of the Super 5 game is a fixed percentage of the sales revenue for each draw, the increase in the price will be directly reflected in the contribution made to the prize fund by each ticket. In fact, whereas before each ticket sold contributed Lm0.225 to the prize fund, each ticket contribution will now be Lm0.2925.

As from 3 October, Maltco said, it would also be increasing the starting guaranteed minimum jackpot to Lm50,000 (EUR116,468.67) instead of Lm40,000.
