The cultural commission of the archdiocese is organising the first parish choirs festival, to be held over three days. The first two performances will be held on 22 and 23 November in the Sacred Cross church, Capuchin Franciscan friars, Floriana.
The third performance, on 24 November, will be held at St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta. The festival will be organised on a participation basis, not on a competitive basis.
The organisers would like the festival to convey the message that parish choirs should receive the appreciation they deserve. They would like the festival to encourage choir members and provide them with a motivation for a greater commitment. It should also help to enhance the cooperation between choirs and parishes.
The festival is open to choirs made up of adults (18+) and accompanied by an organ.
Further information may be obtained from Friar Anton Briffa at the Capuchin convent in Floriana on tel. 2122-5525 or 2123-4949 from Monday to Friday or by sending an email to Carmel Busuttil Dougall on [email protected].
