KM Malta Airlines has issued a warning to passengers that flights between Malta and Catania may experience ongoing disruptions and last-minute cancellations as Mount Etna continues its volcanic activity.

The airline noted that the ongoing eruption has created an unpredictable operating environment where volcanic activity, wind, and weather conditions can shift rapidly with minimal warning.

While the airline strives to notify affected passengers as early as possible when sufficient information is available, sudden deteriorations or restrictions could force delays or cancellations close to departure time.

The carrier emphasised that safety remains its primary concern and that flights will be canceled whenever conditions present a potential risk to passengers and crew.

Operational teams are actively coordinating with Catania airport and relevant authorities to maintain services whenever it is safe to do so. This advisory follows recent weekend disruptions that forced temporary suspensions of arriving flights at Catania, resulting in canceled and diverted services from Malta.
