Following last year's numerous visitors to the Office of the Prime Minister at Auberge de Castille, during Notte Bianca, the Auberge will again be opening for the viewing of the official rooms, from 7pm until 2am. A series of performances will be taking place in the central courtyard.
At 9.15pm, the Victoria Clarinet Quartet will be giving a recital of chamber music. The Quartet, composed of Mario Galea, Marvin Grech, Joseph Debrincat and George Larry Zammit, will be playing a number of popular classic tunes. Founded in 2004 in Gozo, the Victoria Clarinet Quartet has compiled a diverse repertoire, ranging from Baroque to modern/pop music. They have performed in a number of concerts and featured in last May's Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana event.
At 9.30pm Alegria Dance Company will present a dazzling Flama Flamenco. This is Rosana Maya's new experiment of fusing all dance forms – Classical, Flamenco, Salsa, belly dance. In addition, the choreography is spiced with elements taken from her recent pilgrimages to India, Bharatnatyam and Kathak. "Through my love of world music and dance, I am opening up into new areas of expression, realising that music and dance is the cultural art form that truly unites all mankind. Popular tunes from Carmen, experimental medleys from the classics of de Falla and Albeniz, the new sounds of Flamenco and Latin, together with the famous Cuban Salsa dance, all enrich this dance spectacular at the courtyard of Castille on 6 October from 9.30pm to 10.30pm," said Rosana Maya, Artistic Director of Alegria Dance Company.
EnKor Choir in Concert will follow at 11.00pm. EnKor will be presenting a varied selection of classical and spiritual pieces and original works by Maltese composers. Founded and directed by Johanna van Lent-Singels, the choir consists of 40 talented singers and musicians. The choir is specialised and loved for its well-known “swinging” gospels. This year it is celebrating its 5th anniversary and since its inception it has performed in a number of major events. EnKor was also invited to perform at the Gala dinner for the Nobel Prizewinners' Children's Fund "ChildRight" in Amsterdam.
Enkor Choir will be followed by an Acoustic Band composed of local musicians at 12.30am.
Auberge de Castille will also be hosting an exhibition on the Euro. The display will feature the Euro coins from all countries who have changed to this currency, as well as the new Euro coins of Malta and Cyprus.
During the night, the Knighting Entourage will be leaving Auberge de Castille at three different intervals - at 8pm, 9.30pm and 11pm. The grand pageantry, led by the Grand Master Jean de la Vallette and followed by his retinue, will walk around the main streets.
