A Bulgarian mother and daughter yesterday pleaded guilty to the charges of pick-pocketing.

Evdokiya, 54, and 33-year-old Gina Muhlova pleaded guilty, before presiding magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, to stealing a handbag worth up to Lm1,000 on 19 September in Valletta at around 10.20am to the detriment of Nadia Bugeja.

The two women also pleaded not guilty to stealing a purse on 20 September in Valletta at around 6.20pm to the detriment of Evellina Jones.

They told magistrate Padovani that they will pay back just over Lm550 pending judgment today.

Police inspector Anthony Portelli prosecuted and Dr Beppe Fenech Adami appeared for the two women.
