Tenor Kaludi Kaludow will perform a selection of Italian classical songs and popular opera romanzas entitled Kaludi canta l’Italia in the Celebrity Concert for Europe by the Sliema Symphony Band on Sunday 21 October at 7pm at the Republic Hall, Mediterranean Conference Centre,Valletta.

He will sing amongst others Mattinata, La strada del bosco, Cor’ngrato, Maria Mari’, Non ti scordar di me, Chitarra Romana, O surdato nnamorato, Mamma, Torna a Sorriento, and the opera romanzas E lucevan le stellefrom G Puccini’s Tosca and La donna e’ mobile from G Verdi’s Rigoletto.

By special request Kaludi will perform also Mro Giuseppe Fenech’s Ave Maria on the composer’s 90th birthday and as a tribute to one of Malta’s leading composers of sacred music. The programme includes also four duettos that Kaludi will sing together with Maltese soprano Karen Camilleri, namely O soave fanciulla from G Puccini’s La Boheme, Vincenzo Di Chiara’s La Spagnola, Musica Proibita and the concert’s climax with Kaludi Kaludow and Karen Camilleri teaming up together to perform G Verdi’s famous Brindisi from La Traviata.

This is his third concert with the Sliema Band and his fourth visit to Malta since at the early years of his career he had performed at the Manoel Theatre.

The Sliema Band conducted by Mro Ronnie Debattista FLCM will support Malta’s high class tuba player Paul Borg in his performance of Edward Gregson’s Concert for Tuba. The concert opens with the Sinfonia Italiana by Dutch contemporary composer Willy Hautvast and includes also a lively selection of Viennese Operettas - Wiener Operettenklassiker to the delight of the local lovers of Austria’s music and Vienna’s wonderful operettas.
