Malta Independent Tuesday, 2 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

As part of the ongoing Knowledge for all campaign, The European Institute of Education (EIE) has donated books to the library of Ta’ Xbiex local council. This donation is another of the series of donations to Local Councils in view of the EIE’s mission to make knowledge and education accessible to all. As a tertiary education institution, the EIE does not only envisage the well-being of those who are already studying but also of all Maltese citizens who would like to continue developing their skills.

Antonello Cappitta, managing director of EIE, said that “EIE has embarked on this campaign because it sees the importance for our expanding economy that all Maltese are knowledgeable, and have the right tools at their hands to continue developing their skills. Local Councils are an asset in each town, whereby they are in continuous direct contact with the people of the locality, and thus, they are an easy point of access for the continuous educational development of their peoples.”

On the other hand, Antoinette Vassallo, Ta’ Xbiex mayor, said that “Ta’ Xbiex local council has invested in having a library for residents, and it strives continuously to develop this asset for the educational needs of the people of the locality. This donation coincides well with a Book Week that the Local Council has organised. This week was dedicated to motivating all those from Ta’ Xbiex to donate books for the Local Council library in the council’s drive to expand the resources already available, which range from fiction, psychology, cookery, and now a section on management.

The European Institute of Education is licensed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Employment, as a tertiary level institution. The European University Malta Centre’s premises are in Ta’ Xbiex.
