Two operations by the police drugs squad on Sunday led to the arrest of four persons, and the discovery of cocaine, cannabis resin and ecstasy pills, the police said.

In the first operation, in the morning, the police searched a Kalkara garage where they found some 50 ecstasy pills, 20 grammes of cocaine and some 350 grammes of cannabis resin, together with drug related items. A young man of 25 from Vittoriosa was held.

That evening a police operation was conducted at Mellieha, yielding 50 ecstasy pills and 10 packets of cocaine ready for sale. Three young men from Mellieha, Msida and Swieqi were held.

All four men are being held for questioning.

Duty magistrate Miriam Hayman was informed, and appointed experts to help in an inquiry.
