Din l-Art Helwa announces its new cycle of monthly environmental and heritage presentations that begin in October.

The opening presentation on Thursday 11 October is the challenge laid out to the government by Martin Scicluna with his study on the effects of climate change on the islands social and environmental status.

This will be followed on Thursday, 8 November with a presentation on ‘Deities, Ritual and the Sea in the Maltese Islands’ by Dr. Timmy Gambin.

On Thursday, 6 December, Dennis Vella will lecture on ‘Antonio Sciortino and His Influences’.

A lecture by Adrian Strickland on Thursday, 10 January will cover ‘The Camino from Lourdes to Compostela’.

Anton Grech discusses ‘Maltese Contemporary Art’ on Thursday, 14 February.

Thursday, 13 March, ‘Language, Religion and Politics: Australian Press Perspectives of Lord Strickland’s Malta’ will be the lecture by Professor Henry Frendo.

Thursday, 10 April a lecture by Dr John Sciberras will be given.

On Thursday, 8 May ‘Malta in Foreign Fiction’ will be presented by Dr Paul Xuereb.

The concluding lecture in the 2007/2008 cycle will be that on Thursday, 12 June, ‘The Roots of the Maltese Latin Christian Identity’ by Professor Mario Buhagiar.

Each lecture will begin at 6pm at the Judge Maurice Caruana Curran lecture hall, at 133 Melita Street, Valletta. Participants are asked to be seated by 5.45pm. Lectures are given in English and admission is free of charge. Donations to Din l-Art Helwa’s many restoration projects will be appreciated.
