MLP Condemn timing of current trench work in front of Mosta primary school

Labour MPs Charles Buhagiar and Carmelo Abela yesterday told a press conference held in front of Mosta primary school that the trench work in front of the school was a clear example of the government’s incompetence.

They both remarked that it took a whole week after the opening of the scholastic year for the authorities to take action and start closing the wide trench which was posing a serious danger to students and their parents.

The spokesperson for public works, architect Charles Buhagiar emphasised that the government should check that it had all the means necessary for the work to be carried out seriously and with the least inconvenience possible.

The spokesperson for education, Mr Abela said this was not only a case of inconvenience but also a case where the right hand had no inkling as to what the left hand was doing. He emphasised that works like this should be carried out and finished before the beginning of the scholastic year. He said that the deadline for such works should be checked and ascertained to avoid any inconvenience that might crop up.

Works in Grognet Street have still not been completed as part of the trench that has been dug is still uncovered.
