The exhibition Caravaggio – L’Immagine del Divino will be the highlight of next Saturday’s Notte Bianca. Heritage Malta will keep the exhibition open until four in the morning and is offering heavily discounted tickets to ensure the success of this one-time event.

The Caravaggio exhibition starts at the National Museum of Archaeology and continues at the National Museum of Fine Arts where paintings by Caravaggisti painters are on display.

The Caravaggisti exhibition includes several works by well known artists and is arranged in such a way as to lead visitors from one painter to another and showing how each was influenced by Caravaggio. On display, among others, are paintings by Mattia Preti, Giovanni Baglione, Guido Reni, Mathias Stomer and Valentin de Boulogne whose Judith and Holofernes is perhaps the most representative work of the impact of Caravaggio’s style on his followers.

Tickets, which cost Lm2.50 (EUR5.82) can be bought only from the National Museum of Archaeology and allows entry to both the National Museum of Archaeology and the National Museum of Fine Arts. Entrance to the exhibition will be controlled with the last entry being at three.

Heritage Malta is also opening the Palace Armoury for the event. Tickets at Lm1 will be available at the door. Persons under 16 years will be able to enter the Armoury free of charge.
