Qala local council and the Menhir Qala Folk Group organised the second edition of the Qala International Folk Festival last Sunday when folklore groups from Gozo and two folklore groups from Romania and Bulgaria participated.

The festival also included two exhibitions: one consisting of a display of antique objects and the other being a display of several artisan objects such as objects made from reed, stained glass, and lace.

At the closing ceremony, Qala mayor Paul Buttigieg said that the festival’s aim was to expose the culture, customs and traditions which shape the history of the Maltese islands through singing, dancing, costumes and artisan works.

Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono applauded the Qala council for the initiative and said that it was helping to promote Gozo and all that forms part of it.
