GO Supports ‘Razzett tal-Hbiberija’

Malta Independent Tuesday, 23 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

GO was one of the first local companies to team up with Razzett tal-Hbiberija, offering its full support to set matters right after the park recently fell victim to acts of vandalism twice in a row. GO rallied forces, volunteered financial assistance and even offered to step up the high-speed broadband Internet at Razzett powered by GO, to include its new computer laboratory.

The computer laboratory is a recent addition to the state of the art equipment housed at Razzett tal-Hbiberija for use by the 1,000–strong group of persons with various disabilities who frequent the Razzett regularly, and benefit from its high calibre concept learning (termed leisure education), and training services offered to them free of charge.

When Razzett tal-Hbiberija became the unfortunate target of two robberies, the outcome proved a huge setback to the efficient day to day operations The first blow came when a considerable amount of cash was stolen from one of the offices. Soon after, 13 animals were seized from the Animal Park at Razzett, and one animal was brutally killed in the process.

“GO joined the rest of the Maltese community to deplore the atrocious incidents. We pride ourselves in being among the first companies to lend a helping hand towards ensuring that the fundamental services offered at Razzett were restored as soon as possible in the best interests of children and adults with a disability. GO has always valued the humanitarian efforts on the part of the Razzett’s dedicated team towards improving living standards for the less fortunate members of the Maltese community and facilitating their integration into society,” said Maria Jourdan, GO’s sponsorships and corporate social responsibility manager.

During a walk around the park premises, Mark Sultana, general manager at Razzett tal-Hbiberija, thanked GO for its ongoing support over the years. He stressed that the organisation relied on the support of caring companies like GO to reach its goal, which entailed being there for persons and children with disabilities, and offering them – and their families – the best quality of life humanly possible.

“Thanks to the ongoing support it received from a number of local commercial companies including GO, Razzett today boasts a range of ultra modern rehabilitation, therapeutic, recreational and leisure-educational services that it offers on a complimentary basis to persons and children with a disability all the year round,” he said.
