SmartCity Malta, the new self-sustained industry township for knowledge-based companies, to be developed by Dubai-based SmartCity in partnership with the Government of Malta, is sponsoring the e-journalism Award category of the 17th Malta Journalism Awards, organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM).
The e-journalism Award rewards the work of Maltese news-based websites, which have become an increasingly important source of information for Maltese citizens, whether they are living in Malta, permanently residing in another country, or temporarily abroad.
The sponsorship of the e-Journalism Awards is part of SmartCity Malta’s commitment to encourage and contribute to the development of talent in knowledge-based sectors. SmartCity Malta recognises that in the knowledge-based industry, particularly in the ICT and media sectors, talent is the primary resource.
Recognising and fostering talent will be one of the key priorities for SmartCity Malta as it seeks to establish itself as a knowledge-based industry hub for the Mediterranean region. SmartCity’s sponsorship of the Award for
e-journalism, an emerging sector that may well be the future of news media, is in line with this commitment.
