Air Malta Anticipates start of Bologna operations

Following Air Malta’s recent decision that it will start operating to Bologna, the airline yesterday announced that it will anticipate operations by around two weeks and will commence flying to the Italian city on Thursday 6 December. The decision was taken so that car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to visit the world-renowned Bologna Motor Show to be held in the city between 7 and 16 December.

Car buffs can now take advantage of Air Malta’s direct flights to Bologna in order to attend the flagship event of the Italian motor industry. Held once again at the Bologna Fiere venue, the International Car and Motorcycle exhibition will offers a line-up of all new, re-designed or upgraded production models and concept cars from around the world.

From an old Etruscan town, throughout the centuries, Bologna has grown to become a stylish and cultured city. Although Bologna combines art, history and contemporary fashion with remarkable natural surroundings it is not only a tourist destination. Bologna is also an important place for exhibitions and its Fiera district is the second largest in Italy and the fourth largest in Europe. The motorshow is considered the most important in the world but there are others like Cosmoprof, Lineapelle, Saie, Saiedue and Cersaie.

Air Malta will operate three flights before the previously announced inaugural flight to Bologna. The first flight to Bologna will depart Malta International Airport on 6 December at 3.25pm. The return flight to Malta departs at 6.15pm.

The second flight will depart Malta on 10 December at 6.10pm, with the return flight departing at 8.35pm. On 13 December the flight to Bologna departs at 1pm with the returning flight departing Bologna at 3.40pm. As from 17 December Air Malta will operate with twice weekly flights every Monday and Thursday as per the announced schedule.
