Alternattiva Demokratika has formally lodged a number of objections with the Malta Environment and Planning Authority in response to the appeals of local residents in the vicinity of the proposed mega-construction of a mixture of residential units, mainly targeted for the foreign market, including a landmark of a 19 floors tower.
AD chairperson Harry Vassallo said: “The fact that most of the residents who invested in their properties at Xemxija are left in the dark about their welfare is totally unacceptable in an EU country.
“The construction of high-rise towers on the site of the former Mistra Village will have an extremely adverse impact on landscape views and gravely endanger pedestrians due to hazards associated with a mega development of this magnitude and duration.”
Building height restrictions for this area should not be abused”, he said.
Road surfaces were desperately needed as well as pavements which should include ramps for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Apartments on Katerina Vitale Street have been waiting for a proper road surface for nearly 20 years.
