Vodafone Malta has announced new appointments in its current management structure. Joseph Muscat has been appointed as head of Mobile Plus, Sandro Pisani as head of Technology and Joseph Cuschieri as head of Consumer Business.
Ing. Joseph Muscat, who until recently held the position of Vodafone Malta’s chief technology officer, joined Vodafone Malta in 1990 as engineering and operations manager. He is a graduate in electrical engineering from the University of Malta, a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers of the UK. He holds a master’s degree in Business Management from Anglia Polytechnic University and prior to joining Vodafone held management positions with Air Malta and STMicroelectronics. Ing. Muscat has served for several years as a member of the Malta Engineering Board and is also a member of Vodafone’s board of directors. In his new role as head of Mobile Plus, he will be responsible for mobile virtual network operators, WiMax, business intelligence, the bandwidth business, roaming, strategy and mobile advertising.
Ing Sandro Pisani was educated at St Aloysius College. He obtained his electrical engineering degree from the University of Malta and went on to graduate with a master’s degree in Business Administration from the same university. In 1987 he began working for STMicroelectronics Malta and in 1995, together with his family, moved to Michigan, USA to take up a position within STMicroelectronics Automotive Business Unit. During his four years in the US, he was Customer Interface for quality issues on ST’s Automotive Portfolio, servicing customers such as Ford, Chrysler, Delphi and Bosch. In 1999 he moved back to Malta and after a short spell with STMicroelectronics, in 2001 joined Vodafone Malta as Quality Manager. Since 2003 he has held the position of chief strategy officer in the company and will now be responsible for the company’s technology operations, including network performance and IT, in his new role as head of Technology.
Joseph Cuschieri is a fellow member of the Malta Institute of Accountants holding a warrant of a Certified Public Accountant and an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants – UK. He graduated with a master’s degree in Business Administration from Henley Management College in the UK and is currently reading for a doctorate in Business Administration specialising in strategic focus from the Edinburgh Business School in Scotland. He has spent most of his career in senior management positions, predominantly in corporate finance-related functions within the construction, property development and hotel management industries. His experience in the communications industry began when he joined the Malta Communications Authority in March 2001 as chief operations officer. In October 2005, Mr Cuschieri joined Vodafone Malta Ltd as head of Legal, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs, a role that he kept until now. In his new role as head of Consumer Business, he will be responsible for brand, distribution channels, customer operations and consumer marketing and sales.
