HSBC’s Global Call Centre Takes root in Malta

Malta Independent Monday, 29 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

To mark the HSBC Call Centre’s first anniversary, staff from HSBC’s Global Call Centre in Swatar, planted olive, lentisk and Mediterranean palm trees assisted by gardeners from MEPA’s Parks Department.

Now employing some 450 English speaking employees (600 by Christmas) who currently handle a daily rate of over 15,000 calls, HSBC’s call centre operates from bright and airy offices that host state of the art technology including telephony and video conferencing facilities. Staff also enjoy free gym facilities in a brand new onsite fully fledged gym, a pilates room and modern canteen, strengthening further the HSBC ethos of ‘Best Place to Work’

Tony Mahoney, HSBC group general manager from London said, “The call centre has performed exceptionally well versus its 14 peer call centres across HSBC’s global network. Customer experience has been on the up and favourable, as is its operational efficiency, and staff satisfaction. One year on, we can say the call centre has exceeded expectations all round and one must not forget the contribution towards Malta’s economy and the

community.”
