An immediate sense of indulgence and sublime wellbeing hits the guest on entering the Talk of Town Café – Sliema’s newest outlet located in the new five-star hotel, The Palace.

The Talk of Town Café is fast becoming Sliema’s most sought-after outlet for the more discerning, situated as it is in an excellent position in High Street in old Sliema just a stone’s throw away from the sea. With its soave interior, utilising a clever mixture of old-world luxury and trendy chic, in various shades of cream, brown and subtle blue, this Café has become a favourite with both the morning and the evening crowd, enhanced as it is by the excellent quality and service, as well as the free underground parking for diners.

Its décor is welcoming and though spacious enough to accommodate 100 inside and a further 100 outside on the sun-drenched terraces, Talk of Town Café offers every table its own little spacious niche allowing for all the privacy one would desire whether enjoying a relaxing moment with friends or attending an informal business meeting.

The Talk of Town Café offers afternoon High Tea with 9 different sandwiches, pastries and cakes, as well as all-day dining, offering what are probably some of the finest in-house pastries and bread around – all freshly baked in situ at The Palace kitchens. The novel menu offers an original twist to the breakfast selection and also features crêpes, muffins and pastries. Other established favourites include some lovely fresh ftiras, wraps, baguettes, bagels and quiches – all rigorously in-house baked. The menu includes all-time staples which have been given an innovative revival where we find salads so rich in ingredients that may be taken as a main course, home-made pasta and rice dishes and delicious main meat courses with an imaginative selection of side dishes that also features various salads, grilled vegetables and herb couscous.

Other features to be found at the Talk of Town Café, and which are already gaining popularity, are the excellent choice of dips all served with roasted herb tortillas, nachos, bread sticks and vegetable crudities as well as the ever popular platters featuring a choice of abundant Asian, Italian or cheese platters – all ideal for sharing over a glass of excellent wine.

What has already made the Talk of Town Café a popular destination are the scrumptious pastries and gateaux as well as the delightful desserts, ice-creams and sorbets, once again, all rigorously in-house made. These include things like Dark Chocolate mousse, Ricotta Ice-cream, Melon Sorbet, Delizia della Costiera Amalfitana and Stelle di noci – a trio of different nuts ice-cream garnished with honey glazed almonds and twisted chocolate!

Open from 8.30am till 1am, the Talk of Town Café offers guests an extensive liquid menu which is particularly popular with the evening crowd. This includes aperitifs, digestives, spirits, beers, some excellent liqueurs, a long list of cocktails and Bar-tender’s creations. It also features an innovative list of non-alcoholic beverages, energy drinks, mock-tails, smoothies milkshakes and a deluxe selection of hot and cold teas and special coffees including a list of gourmet tea.
