Malta International Airport plc has announced that Peter Bolech, who has served as chief executive officer since July 2002, has concluded his term of office with the organisation and will be leaving his post at the end of December.

Peter Bolech was the leading figure who led Malta International Airport from a state-oriented enterprise to an established privatised company focusing on business development based on professional quality of service and enhanced investment in infrastructure.

Peter Bolech will leave his mark on the company’s involvement on the national social levels and the remarkable contribution of Malta International Airport to the tourism industry.

Karin Zipperer, MIA chairman, expressed the board’s appreciation for the many achievements which have been recorded during Mr Bolech’s stewardship of the Company.

Mr Bolech will be succeeded by Julian Jaeger who since last January has occupied the post of chief commercial officer and will continue to build on the many successes achieved to date.

Mr Jaeger was born in Austria in 1971 and graduated Master of Law from the University of Vienna. He has specialised in aviation for MBA from the Danube University of Krems. This experience originates from the legal field with particular emphasis on competition law and aviation law.

Before commencing employment at MIA, he was head of business development at Vienna International Airport. In this capacity Julian Jaeger was responsible for market development, market analysis, market research, tariffs, concessions and aviation strategy as well as traffic forecasts, cargo development and statistics. He will take up the appointment as from 1 January.
