In a statement issued yesterday, the local government department has published and distributed to the local councils the 37th, the 38th, and the 39th report on the efficiency of the local councils.
Justice and home affairs ministry placed these reports on the table of the House of Representatives last Monday.
The first report contains the inspection results carried out between April to July 2006. These can be analysed in detail and compared to the results which cover the same period of time in 2005, as well as the actual median mark of local councils assessed between April to July 2006.
The department inspected 16 local councils in Malta and eight local councils in Gozo in this first period, which amount to one third of all local councils.
The second report contains the inspection results carried out between August to December 2006. These can also be analysed in detail and compared to the results which cover the same period of time in 2005, as well as the actual median mark of local councils assessed during August to December 2006.
In this period of time, the Department inspected 18 local councils in Malta and four in Gozo. The third report contains the inspection results reached between December 2006 and March 2007. The same was done as with the other two reports.
The department analysed 20 local councils in Malta and two in Gozo during this period.
The three reports all end with statistics which display the local council with the highest median mark, and that with the lowest.
