Malta Independent Thursday, 22 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

A concert of sacred music was held on 20 October by the King’s Own Philharmonic Society and the Chorus Urbanus, to a packed St Dominic’s Parish Church in Valletta, in honour of St Gorg Preca, who was baptised in the church.

It also marked the eighth Centenary of the establishment of the first Dominican community in Prouille. The Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona OP, who is patron of the King’s Own Philharmonic Society and was also baptised in the church, was guest of honour.

The concert started with the playing of the Pontifical Hymn, and included various works. There was also an informative speech on St Gorg Preca by the Provincial, Fr Paul Gatt O.P.
