Saturday 27 October was an unforgettable day for all children, members of the Nesquik Club who attended the Nesquik Outdoor Adventure Event at the Scouts’ Camp Site in Ghajn Tuffieha. The event, organised by Nestlé Malta in collaboration with the San Gwann Scout Group of Malta was attended by over 500 parents and children who took part in a number of adventurous and fun games organised by the San Gwann Scouts Group.
“Children these days seem to be spending a lot of time on their computer, playing games and surfing the net and little time is left for them to go out and experiment the outdoors. Scouting is one of the best hobbies a child can have since the scouting culture is all about acquiring values and important life skills,” explained a spokesperson for Nestlé Malta.
“The organisation of the Nesquik Outdoor Adventure Event was in line with Nestlé’s philosophy to promote an active lifestyle amongst children and, through the varied program of events, we sought to motivate children to understand the fun and importance of spending time out of doors, and being active. We also wanted to promote scouting as one such activity that can help children experience fun, adventure and friendship.”
The San Gwann Scouts Group was entrusted with the organisation of a number of fun and adventurous games such as obstacle races involving ropes, and wooden beams, pioneering, whereby scout members gave demonstrations on how to make basin stands and clothes stands with wood and rope and a Sense Test were participants were blindfolded and had to guess the object/material presented to them through smelling and hearing.
The Arial Runway proved to be a very popular and much sought after experience. Participants wearing harnesses could slide down a rope suspended from the top of a one storey building to the end of the rope. This was an extremely safe game, with all the required safety harnesses and equipment plus with the Scout members in attendance, but gave the kids a taste of adventure that scouting can provide.
The Zebbug Tennis Club, also present during the event, invited children to be active and join a ‘tennis for kids’ program and offered free tennis balls, a 15% discount to all Nesquik Club members and also raffled three “Tennis for kids” programmes worth Lm42 that includes membership, coaching and a free tennis racket.
During the Nesquik Outdoor Adventure Event, Nestlé Malta also collected donations from all the Nesquik Club members in aid of the Ursuline Sisters in Gwardamangia.
