A Tunisian man yesterday fined Lm300 after he pleaded guilty to grievously injuring a man by running him over with his car.

The court, presided over by magistrate Anthony Vella, heard how Amor Ben Tahar Jaballah, 30, ran over Marco Attard in San Gwann on 8 July 2003. Jaballah, who resides in Sliema, failed to stop at a traffic sign and grievously injured Mr Attard, who was in a critical condition. He was fined Lm300.

Police Inspector Martin Sammut led the prosecution while Dr Andy Ellul and Dr Vincent Micallef were defence counsel.
