The stock of motor vehicles rose by 2,388 in the third quarter of 2007, to stand at 285,353.
As at end September 2007, the stock of licensed motor vehicles stood at 285,353. Of these, 76.0 per cent were private vehicles, while commercial vehicles made up 16.3 per cent.
New licences
New licences issued during the third quarter of 2007 amounted to 3,240. Private vehicles accounted for 2,350 new licences, or 72.5 per cent of the total. In the reference quarter, the majority of new licences were issued to private vehicles falling within ‘Class 1’ (
This class accounted for 1,424 new licences, while vehicles in ‘Class 2’ (1301-1449 cc) accounted for 286. Newly-licensed ‘new’ motor vehicles amounted to 1,973, or 60.9 per cent of the total, while newly-licensed ‘used’ motor vehicles amounted to 1,267, or 39.1 per cent of the total.
Scrapped and exported
