Well done to all those who took part in the Malta Music Awards. The event was well organised and rewarded real Maltese talent. It was also good for upcoming bands to showcase their talent. Thumbs up.
The amount of traffic jams caused by double parking is ridiculous. Where are the wardens and where are the traffic cops. Some roads which spring to mind include Constitution Street Mosta, The Strand in Sliema, Naxxar Road in San Gwann and the grand-daddy of them all, Regional Road – in the industrial area near the Qormi flyover. Absolutely atrocious.
The political parties are in election mode – sniping at each other, smear campaigns, achievements highlighted – it just goes on and on. Meanwhile, the general public has Christmas and the Euro changeover in January to cope with. So, either shut up and leave us to it until you decide it’s election time, or at least tell us when the election is happening please.
It’s a very common thing in this country. People either leave their pets to roam the streets unattended, or they leave them (especially dogs) out on the roof all day and night. Animals running around in packs are dangerous. They also foul the streets and those left on roofs can cause considerable noise pollution. Again, where is the enforcement?
No alcohol sold to minors they say. Well, taking a walk around any nightlife area (whether Paceville, Sliema, Bugibba or wherever) tells an entirely different story. What is the use of enacting laws if they simply are not enforced?
This one goes in more or less every other week and it will continue to do so until the Malta Transport Authority does something about it. Trucks carrying rubble should be covered – by law. How many times so we see trucks carrying rubble which are not? One such case was observed in Zejtun last week. The truck was “covered” with a tiny tarpaulin that did not do the job as lime was just coming out and flying off into the atmosphere. ADT, you penalise the motorist… why not penalise these companies, and while you’re at it, why not penalise all the delivery vans that block traffic and cause havoc by double parking and whatnot? Ah, perhaps because it’s easier to penalise your everyday Joe Public.
The IT Minister has called in Internet Service Providers to reduce the prices of broadband internet access. Bravo – music to everyone’s ears. But how about we all appeal for a better service as well and better download speeds that are truly broadband standard?
To close on a positive note, the Mater Dei Migration plan was meticulously crafted and put into action. (See photo). The results were impressive. Patients were moved in less time than anticipated and there was no fallout on the roads. Well done!
