The 102 police recruits who successfully completed their training course joined the ranks of the force after their passing out parade which was held at the Police Academy in Fort St Elmo.
Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg and Police Commissioner John Rizzo attended the ceremony.
The recruits, 67 men and 35 women, were chosen out of 300 applicants.
On 13 September they began their training, including various placements in police stations for a number of weeks, learning about the law, procedures and police investigations.
The recruits were also trained in social areas and did voluntary work in communities in Malta and Gozo with people with a disability, children and the elderly.
During their training, they were also introduced to the three pillars of democracy: the executive and legislative branches, and the judiciary. Dr Borg, Speaker of the House of the Representatives Anton Tabone and Chief Justice Vincent Degaetano met the recruits and explained how the Maltese constitution works.
