The National Euro Changeover Committee (NECC) yesterday opened 59 euro centres around Malta and Gozo that will help and answer, during December and January, any queries retailers and the public might have about the euro changeover process.
During a press conference held at the Attard euro centre, NECC chairman Joe FX Zahra said that Malta was only a few days away from a historic step and as a result, everyone should make sure that they had all the information needed to fully understand the euro changeover.
“The euro centres are the easiest way for people to ask for information and find publications about the euro,” he said.
NECC executive director Alan Camilleri said there were 45 centres in Malta and another 14 in Gozo.
“Most of these centres are found in the town or village parish centre – the list is published in the media and in the NECC’s monthly euro magazine,” he said.
Mr Camilleri said that over 250 information meetings, in collaboration with the local councils, were held for housewives, the elderly and small businesses.
These meetings would continue to be held during December and the euro centres would open at different times according to the needs of the locality. A
