Suspended Sentence for man guilty of slightly injuring policeman

A 26-year-old man was yesterday jailed for six months suspended for a year after he pleaded guilty to slightly injuring a police constable and resisting arrest.

Charles Buhagiar, from Xaghjra, also pleaded guilty, before magistrate Edwina Grima, to threatening, assaulting, insulting and offending a Police Sergeant and three police constables as well as breaching the peace and using obscene language in public. Police Inspector Alexander Grech led the prosecution while Dr Anglu Farrugia was defence counsel.
