A pro-life petition with 36,000 signatures was presented to Parliament on 3 November, calling on all MPs to come together in a show of pro-life unity to provide the unborn child with the right to life. Gift of Life are calling on opposition leader Alfred Sant to break the existing stalemate, and take a clear stand on this constitutional amendment to better protect the unborn child.

Without a clear indication from Dr Sant that this proposed amendment will not be shot down in Parliament, Gift of Life said, the government does not seem to be willing to risk moving ahead, despite the fact that 40 MPs agree with the idea. The movement is appealing to Dr Sant to demonstrate that he is indeed listening to the pro-life wishes in Malta and Gozo, and thus be instrumental in helping to protect the country better against abortion.
