UHM Tells Air Malta employees not to obey GWU

Malta Independent Saturday, 8 December 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Union Haddiema Maghqudin has instructed its members at Air Malta not to follow directives issued by the General Workers’ Union.

It said the reason behind the GWU directives was that the Air Malta management had accepted UHM representations for business support assistants and airport handlers to be paid at the same rate as clerks and loaders.

It was a shame, the UHM said, that a union could issue a directive because of an improvement for worker colleagues. It had been calling for justice to be done with these workers for years, the UHM added.
