As part of the fund-raising for the organ fund there will be a Christmas concert with a difference at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral on Thursday, 20 December at 7pm.
The concert organiser is vocal coach, Arleen J. Barlow who will be presenting students of her vocal studio. The concert is being publicised as “A concert with a difference”, as nearly all the music presented will be new to the Maltese audience. Please note that there will be no carols.
The Christmas songs will be accompanied on the digital piano by the resident studio pianists Martina Falzon and Geoffrey Tanti.
The singers participating in the concert are “sopranos” Arleen Barlow, Katherine Brown, Kimberley Grech and Alexander Alden; “mezzos” Claire Aquilina, Danika Sammut, Francesca Zarb and Damian Buhagiar.
Ms Zarb will be a special guest performer and will be playing a piano solo and her other instrument, the classical guitar.
David Johnson who is one of the Cathedral’s resident organists will start and end the concert with a series of Christmas melodies.
The Cathedral will be bathed in candlelight to enhance the mood, and there will be a mince pie and mulled wine supper in the undercroft after the concert. Tickets at Lm1.50/EUR3.49 can be booked on 2157 1433, 7970 7978.
There will be a collection at the end of the concert towards the Cathedral Organ Fund.
