BOV Cardholders who use their BOV Card to pay for their shopping throughout this festive season will automatically be eligible to win back the amount they spend thanks to this year’s Christmas promotion launched by Bank of Valletta. All BOV cards – Cashlink, Visa and MasterCard – are participating in this promotion that will run until the 31 January.
The promotion is being extended to both cardholders as well as BOV merchants. Cardholders become automatically eligible to participate in the lottery by effecting at least one purchase transaction by means of a BOV card. Merchants on the other hand will be required to effect at least 10 transactions through the BOV EPOS at their retail outlet.
Speaking about card usage during the Christmas period, John Pollacco Head of the Card Services Unit at BOV said, “Paying with a BOV Card eliminates the need to carry cash. Furthermore, with the upcoming conversion to Euro, using a BOV card also eliminates the necessity to use Maltese Liri in the last few days before the conversion, thus also eliminating the requirement to effect currency changes once the Euro is adopted.” Mr Pollacco went on to add that: “Our electronic point of sale terminals are, in fact, already euro compliant, and on midnight of 31 December, will automatically set the euro as the default currency. Merchants need not perform any function at their end since the update will be fully automated.”
The lottery draws will be held as follows: The first draw will be held tomorrow whereby at least six transactions for cardholders and four merchant names will be drawn. The second draw will be held on Wednesday, 6 February whereby a minimum of 34 transactions for cardholders until the total prize fund of Lm2,575.80/e6,000 is exhausted and 12 Merchant names will be drawn.
