The University of Malta, with the support of HSBC Malta, held two celebration concerts to mark its Foundation Day and this year’s graduands. Foundation Day goes back to the signing by Grandmaster Pinto of the decree constituting the University of Malta on 22 November, 1769.

The one-hour concerts, held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, were attended mainly by graduands, their families, university staff and students. Popular classical pieces, including Ravel’s Bolero, were performed by the National Orchestra, conducted by Prof. Mro Michael Laus. The concerts were followed by a reception.

Graduands from the Faculties of Arts, Education, Laws, Science, Theology, Information and Communication Technology and the Centre for Communication Technology attended the performance on November 22. The Faculties of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Dental Surgery, Engineering, Economics, Management and Accountancy, Medicine and Surgery, the Institute of Health Care and all other institutes and centres attended the celebration concert on 23 November.

President of Malta Edward Fenech Adami and Mrs Fenech Adami, as well as the Minister for Education, Youth and Employment, attended one of the performances.
