Family and Social Solidarity Minister Dolores Cristina yesterday wound down Malta’s European Year of Equal Opportunities for all when the three Maltese projects chosen made their final presentation.
The projects are Mosaic, managed by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality, Ilkoll Indaqs, of the Jesuit Refugee Service, and Rights not Charity Campaign of the National Commission for Persons with a Disability. All three focused on the diversity and promotion of equality in the six sectors, being: gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, and sexual orientation.
Mrs Cristina said the fact of recognising our differences could be a means of understanding each other better. Through funds from the EU Malta has for many years been focussing on equal opportunities for all and today awareness of diversity is more widespread.
