Maltese workers again have another important political choice to make and in doing so they should think wisely about all that has been said and promised, said Salv Sammut, president of the General Workers Union in his New Year 2008 message.

Workers have to stop and reflect on their economic and social situation and think about how it could turn out to be in the future, said Mr Sammut.

In his concluding remarks, the GWU president said workers should also try to understand what the union is requesting in its memorandum to the political parties and decide whether to trust their own destiny in the hands of the party that promises to implement proposals put forward in the memorandum, said Mr Sammut.
