Young Singer for International Nile Song Festival

Cherylis Camilleri is a 12-year- old singer with a powerful voice who will be taking part in the International Nile Song Festival 2008 over the next few days.

Cherylis will be singing the popular Maltese song Il-Muzika, penned and composed by Eileen Micallef and arranged by Elton Zarb, as well as an original composition written for her by Deo Grech and Philip Vella called My Dreams.

She started singing when she was nearly 6 years old and is now under the supervision of her vocal coach Isabelle. She has participated in various festivals in Malta and Gozo and has had positive results in most of them (third place in Star To B Festival in 2004 and 2006, third place in Fl-Ghaqda l-Melodija 2004, first place in the Television Programme Ta’ Lynn, second place in the Malta Shipyards Sports and Social Club Festival 2007.)

Cherylis has been a guest singer at St John’s Cathedral in Valletta and also took part in the musical Sebastian. Cherylis studies the piano under the London College of Music and she is now in Grade 6.
