Sundays With Heritage Maltaa big success

Malta Independent Tuesday, 29 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Heritage Malta hailed Sunday’s event at Vittoriosa and Hagar Qim as a huge success, with hundreds taking part. The event was part of the customary “Sundays with Heritage Malta”, and provided an opportunity for those taking part to visit Fort St Angelo, the Maritime Museum, the Inquisitor’s Palace and Hagar Qim.

The historic Fort St Angelo was the prime attraction, together with the historical re-interpretation at the Malta Maritime Museum and the musical group Gukulari Ensemble which were performing at the Inquisitor’s Palace.

Parts of Fort St Angelo were recently assigned to Heritage Malta which will be working closely with the Cottonera Waterfront Consortium to identify ways and means how to make this historical icon more accessible to the public. The fort is presently in a dilapidated state and will be restored.

The next event in conjuction with “Sundays with Heritage Malta” will be held on 24 February, with a special focus on Rabat and Mdina.
