Martin Scicluna, a member of the National Commission for Sustainable Development and executive president of Din l-Art Helwa from 2001 to 2005, is giving a talk for Din l-Art Helwa in Gozo, where he will speak on “Climate change and Malta’s future sustainability”.

He will trace Malta’s economic, social and environmental development in the last 20 years since 1987 and look ahead to the challenges facing Malta in the next 20 or so critical years to 2030 when the threat of climate change will be making itself increasingly felt.

In essence, he will be analysing the progress made in the last two decades but will also look ahead to the unprecedented challenges facing Malta’s economy, its society, environment and quality of life in the face of the changes in Malta’s climate and, especially, the effects of climate change.

Mr Scicluna, today vice-president of Din l-Art Helwa, is also a council member of Europa Nostra and on the board of the International National Trusts Organisation. He is also director-general of the newly-formed public policy think tank, the Today Public Policy Institute.

He will be giving his talk at the Ministry for Gozo, St Francis Square, Victoria, on Thursday at 6.30pm. Those wishing to attend are advised to be seated by 6.15pm. The lecture is sponsored by HSBC, Arkadia and Abrahams Supplies.
