A 20-year-old man from Hamrun yesterday pleaded not guilty to assaulting and slightly injuring a police officer in Hamrun on Monday.

Jonathan Bugeja was also charged with threatening Police Constable Angelo Rowe, disobeying his orders, breaching the peace and using obscene words in public.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera granted him bail against a deposit of €300 and a personal guarantee of €200.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted while Dr Veronique Dalli appeared for the accused.
