The father and mother of a month-old child pleaded guilty yesterday to expecting payment for giving their child away.
A 24-year-old Libyan man residing at St Paul’s Bay and a 23-year-old Valletta woman pleaded guilty before magistrate Antonio Mizzi to arrange to be paid after giving their child for adoption. The child was born in December.
The Libyan, who pleaded guilty to relapsing, was fined e300 while the woman was placed under probation for two years.
Police Inspectors Louise Calleja and Melvyn Camilleri prosecuted while lawyers Anglu Farrugia and Edward Gatt appeared for the accused.
