The Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs said Saturday has not received any reports concerning Maltese citizens who are missing or who were involved in the tragedy that occurred in Nepal.

The Ministry has taken note of reports that are circulating in which four persons were mentioned as Maltese citizens who were rescued.

The Maltese authorities are in contact with the Consul in Kathmandu and with the Nepalese authorities. So far, checks by the Maltese authorities have found no records of Maltese citizens matching the four names reported.

The Maltese authorities said they are continuing to verify the available information and remain in contact with the authorities concerned, while the Ministry will continue to closely and actively monitor the situation.

The Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs reiterated its solidarity with the people of Nepal at this difficult time and extends its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
