The First Hall Civil Court was asked to order the Malta Transport Authority (MTA) to refund a couple who had to pay for a Maltese registration to their UK-registered car.

William and Anna Grech filed a judicial protest in which they accused ADT of acting illegally against them when they were asked to pay e11,544.37 (Lm4,956) in registration fees for a Land Rover Freelander they had bought for e3,693.69.

The Grechs held that the ADT acted in breach of EU regulations and held Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Minister Jesmond Mugliett responsible to see that ADT does not act in breach of the law.
