Malta has not yet decided to recognise the independence of Kosovo and will make a decision “at the opportune moment”, Foreign Minister Michael Frendo has said.
He said in a statement Malta was satisfied that the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council has reached a unified position on the EU’s role for stability in Kosovo and the European perspective for the region.
The council discussed Kosovo after Kosovo’s assembly last Sunday adopted the resolution declaring Kosovo independent.
Recognition of the resolution by the EU governments is left to the member states individually.
